Strategic Session on Health Improvement in Odessa
On July 3, 2025, a strategic session was held at the Odessa City Hall focusing on health care, social protection, and support. This initiative is part of the UNDP project ‘Transformational Recovery for People’s Safety in Ukraine’ funded by the Government of Japan.
Participants included representatives from relevant departments of the Odessa City Council, health care facilities, social services, as well as NGOs and community organizations.
The session aimed to create a shared vision for the development of health care and social protection systems in Odessa, identify key challenges and opportunities, and develop specific initiatives.
During the session, the current state of the medical and social sectors, available resources, and challenges were analyzed. Group discussions led to concrete proposals regarding primary health care, prevention, specialized and high-tech medicine, social protection for veterans and vulnerable populations, as well as digitization in health care.
Among the main trends identified by participants were: increasing life expectancy and quality of life, disease prevention, enhancing citizen health, and a personalized approach to health care. Key social protection issues include creating conditions for citizen welfare and development, optimizing social relationships, and unlocking individual potential for social harmony.
The proposals and insights gained will be used to shape the future strategy for the development of the Odessa territorial community.
