Severe Weather Disrupts Power Supply in Odessa Region

Heavy rain and strong winds have caused damage to power networks in thirty settlements across the Odessa region. Restoration of power is promised by the end of the day.

This was reported by DTEK Odessa Power Networks and the National Energy Company «Ukrenergo».

Energy workers are already on-site at all the affected areas in Odessa.

Furthermore, «Ukrenergo» announced a rise in electricity consumption over the past three days. This is attributed to cloudy weather with precipitation affecting a significant part of Ukraine, leading to decreased efficiency of home solar power systems and an increase in consumption from the main grid.

Yesterday, May 8th, the daily peak consumption was recorded in the evening, matching the peak of the previous day, May 7th.

Ukrenergo also urged consumers to conserve electricity and to shift the use of high-power appliances to nighttime hours. If possible, they request not to turn on multiple devices simultaneously before 10 PM.
