Trial of Russian Intelligence Agents in Odesa
A trial has commenced in Odesa against women implicated in a Russian intelligence agency network responsible for directing fire on military and medical targets. They relayed information about at least 10 such sites. Two suspects are in custody, while a third is serving an 8-year prison sentence.
This information was disclosed by the Odesa regional prosecutor's office.
Authorities stated that the accused, under the supervision of a Russian intelligence officer, gathered information on the locations of Ukrainian Armed Forces units and key infrastructure in Odesa.
"The organizer of the network was a 23-year-old local resident. Under the guidance of her supervisor, she recruited two friends, who also supported the aggressor's actions. They submitted applications for employment to one of the Russian intelligence agencies.
For several months, the trio collected and sent via messenger text messages, photos, videos, and Google Maps screenshots detailing the positions of Ukrainian Armed Forces units, recruitment centers, hospitals, and air defense sites. The network participants managed to inform the occupiers about at least 10 targets", - the statement reads.
For their "work," the women received $500, hoping to secure leadership positions in trade management following the occupation of Odesa region.
The accused were apprehended in June 2024 while gathering information about the location of a military unit. Currently, two women remain in custody, while the third is already serving her sentence. Given her cooperation with the investigation and genuine remorse, the court imposed a softer penalty than stipulated by law.
