New Greenhouse Initiative in Vynogradivka
A farmer from Vynogradivka, Yuriy Syurma, is set to establish a new greenhouse complex within the community. The Bolgrad City Council has backed his initiative, and after an open land auction, Yuriy secured the right to lease eight hectares of land for his agricultural project.
Yuriy, a farmer with six years of experience, specializes in growing organic vegetables without chemical fertilizers. Last year, he successfully harvested crops from three hectares and decided to expand his operations.
«I wanted to scale up, so I approached the city council. They supported my idea, designated the land, held an open auction, and I was fortunate to win», — shared Yuriy Syurma.
The entrepreneur plans to cultivate zucchinis, strawberries, watermelons, corn, and tomatoes. All products will be organic, which, according to the farmer, is a pressing challenge in a region where traditional agrochemicals are prevalent.
«We want to restore the true taste of vegetables to Ukrainians and build their trust in food. We aim for people to know: this is not just “water with foam plastic”, but a natural product grown with care», — highlights the farmer.
The first harvest from the new plot is expected after the preparatory work is completed. This year, the farm will focus on setting up irrigation, preparing the soil, and developing infrastructure. Yuriy also expressed gratitude to the city mayor, Serhiy Dmytriiev, for his assistance with organizational matters, particularly regarding water supply.
In the future, the project is expected to create 20–30 permanent jobs for community residents.
«Don’t hesitate to reach out to local authorities with your ideas. If one door doesn’t open, another will surely be available», — advises Yuriy to those dreaming of starting their own business.
The Bolgrad City Council emphasizes that the development of local entrepreneurship and support for proactive residents is one of the community’s priorities.
