Tragedy at a Celebration: Teen in Hospital After Stabbing Incident
A 19-year-old resident of the Odessa region has been accused of inflicting serious injuries on his 17-year-old friend. During a birthday celebration, he stabbed the victim in the chest. The offender faces up to eight years in prison.
Law enforcement reported that the incident occurred a few days ago in one of the villages of the Bilyaivka community, where a group of young men were celebrating a friend's birthday. A dispute arose between two friends, aged 19 and 17, which escalated into a fight. During the altercation, the older one grabbed a knife from the table and stabbed the younger one in the chest.
"The victim's friends helped him get home, where his mother urgently took him to the hospital. Medics diagnosed him with a penetrating stab wound to the chest," the statement said.
Realizing the severity of his actions, the offender returned home and called the police. Officers arrived at the scene, established the circumstances, seized the weapon, and collected other evidence. The suspect was tested for intoxication and found to be under the influence.
"Based on the collected evidence, we informed the suspect of charges for intentionally causing serious bodily harm that endangers life. According to part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, this crime is punishable by up to eight years in prison. The court has placed the suspect under round-the-clock house arrest. The investigation is ongoing, and the Bilyaivka District Prosecutor's Office is overseeing the case," said Dmitry Tkachenko, an investigator with the Odessa District Police Department No. 2.
