Tragic Incident at a Gathering: Tenant Commits Murder

During a social gathering, a drunken tenant fatally stabbed his landlord and fled to the capital. He will serve nine years behind bars for his crime.

This incident occurred in March of last year in the apartment of a 63-year-old Odessa resident on Breus Street. When the man stopped responding to calls from friends, they alerted the police. Officers found him lifeless in his own home.

Through initial investigative measures, it was established that a 53-year-old tenant from another region was involved in the landlord's death.

The investigation revealed that a day before the body was found, a conflict erupted between the two men during a drunken night, during which the tenant inflicted stab wounds to the landlord's chest and back. After the act, the perpetrator fled to Kyiv, where he was soon apprehended by the police.

Criminalists utilized a mobile DNA lab to analyze biological traces collected during the initial investigation, confirming the suspect’s involvement. The forensic examination concluded that the cause of death was penetrating stab wounds to the thoracic cavity damaging the lungs.

According to Mykola Kulchytskyi, head of Police Department No. 1 in Odessa, based on police requests, the perpetrator was taken into custody. After gathering sufficient evidence, investigators charged him with intentional murder and forwarded the indictment to court.

After reviewing the case materials and the evidence provided by law enforcement, the court found the defendant guilty of murdering his landlord and sentenced him to nine years in prison. The defendant admitted his guilt and expressed genuine remorse for his actions.
