Arrest of Illegal Migration Organizer
A 22-year-old offender was facilitating the illegal exit of individuals from the country. He has been formally charged and a preventive measure has been taken against him. The criminal faces imprisonment and asset confiscation. This was reported by the police.
Authorities discovered that a resident of the Velykomykhailivska community was using social media to find men who wanted to leave the country illegally. Having found two such individuals, he offered them transportation to the Moldovan border for $5,000 each. The service included advice on the 'safe' crossing of the border at night. Meeting with the 'clients', the offender drove them in his car to a border settlement in the Rozdilna district.
The perpetrator was apprehended by police near the state border after delivering the men to their destination and receiving $10,000 from them. Investigators seized the cash and the vehicle, which has been placed under arrest. As the charge against him entails asset confiscation, the vehicle may be confiscated by court order.
«Currently, the suspect has been charged with a criminal offense under part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for organizing illegal transportation of individuals across the state border for selfish motives concerning several persons. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to nine years and the confiscation of property. The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of bail», - stated investigator Victoria Bondarenko.
