Military Corruption Uncovered in Odesa Region

On February 21, police in Odesa reported the arrest of an instructor from one of the district territorial recruitment and social support centers.

Law enforcement discovered that the military officer demanded 50,000 hryvnias from a man he was assisting in processing military registration documents.

"For this amount, the perpetrator promised to influence military officials to provide a deferment document, allowing the citizen to move freely within Ukraine," the statement said.

Subsequently, the TCC employee lowered the amount to 20,000 hryvnias, and he was arrested after receiving this sum. The money was seized as evidence.

The prosecutor's office noted that the military officer took the man's passport to ensure he would receive the money:

"In January 2025, the suspect offered his help again, reducing the bribe to 20,000 hryvnias. The citizen, forced to agree, informed law enforcement and continued to act under their guidance."

The arrest took place on February 19. The man was notified of suspicion under Article 369-2, part 3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which carries a penalty of up to eight years in prison, along with asset confiscation. The decision on the preventive measure is currently being determined.
