Assault on Military Personnel in Odesa: Incident Details
The incident occurred on February 22 on Italian Boulevard, where police apprehended an individual who inflicted bodily harm on a military personnel.
Authorities determined that a 28-year-old man from the Bereziv district initiated a conflict with military personnel during a document check.
He sprayed tear gas in the face of one of the soldiers and fired several shots at him with a traumatic firearm before fleeing. The victim was taken to a medical facility,
– police reported.
Officers apprehended the offender, who was then handed over to the Security Service of Ukraine.
TCC's Reaction to the Incident
- The Odesa Regional TCC responded to the assault, stating that the 28-year-old man refused to comply with the legal demands of the military personnel to present military registration documents.
- "He sprayed tear gas in the face of one of the soldiers and fired several shots in his direction while attempting to escape," – TCC officials said.
- The Security Service of Ukraine initiated criminal proceedings under Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code. The TCC emphasized that such actions are classified as particularly serious crimes that carry the harshest penalties. The materials have been submitted to court for preventive measures.
- The TCC stressed that violence against military personnel is unacceptable, and mobilization is the duty of every citizen.
- "Citizens must understand that any manifestation of resistance against the military administration directly impacts the country's defense capability," – TCC officials concluded.
