New Partnerships between Odesa and Mainz
The Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, held an online meeting with the Mayor of Mainz, Nino Haaze.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the procedure for signing a partnership agreement between the cities.
This initiative has already received support from the legislative bodies of both Odesa and Mainz.
Additionally, the dialogue participants discussed directions for cooperation development, particularly in cultural and social fields, bioenergy, and the IT sector.
The Mayor of Odesa highlighted the significant historical contribution of Germans to the rapid development of Odesa in the early 19th century and expressed hope that modern counterparts could replicate this trend.
«Despite the challenging times, we are moving forward through unity and development of interaction», — noted the Mayor of Odesa.
Since 2022, Mainz has been accepting refugees from Ukraine, creating conditions for their economic, social, and cultural engagement.
Hennadiy Trukhanov thanked the German people for their incredible support and assistance, and informed his colleague about the recent hostile attacks that Odesa has endured.
«The most terrifying aspect of this war is its aim at the destruction of the civilian population, culture, and authenticity of Ukraine. We are currently assisting and aiming for long-term cooperation», - said the Mayor of Mainz.
Nino Haaze mentioned that Mainz is the most dynamic city in Germany, and he perceives Odesa in the same light. He also expressed confidence that the partnership agreement between our cities will foster development for both nations.
