Fires in Odesa: Two Incidents in One Day
A tragedy occurred in the Primorsky district of Odesa — a fire broke out in a residential building, resulting in an injured woman. Rescuers promptly removed the victim from the smoke-filled apartment and handed her over to medical personnel.
According to information provided by the Main Department of State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Odesa region, the incident happened yesterday, January 19, in the evening on the first floor of a two-story building on Kinny Street. The fire engulfed household items and personal belongings. During the firefighting efforts, rescuers evacuated a woman born in 1964.
"The woman suffered from 30% burns and was in moderate condition. Rescuers carried her out of the house and handed her over to medical personnel. They also evacuated 4 individuals from the second floor, including 1 child.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of firefighters, neighboring apartments were saved," the report stated.
The likely cause of the fire is a short circuit in the electrical network. The extent of damages is currently being assessed. A total of 28 firefighters and 8 units of equipment were deployed to extinguish the fire.
Today, January 20, another fire occurred in the private residential building on Agronomichny Lane in the Peresyp district of Odesa. Rescuers found the body of the deceased owner, born in 1993, at the scene.
The cause of the fire and the damages incurred are currently being determined. For extinguishing the fire, 7 firefighters and 2 units of equipment were engaged.
Throughout the day, rescuers also collaborated with other services. In particular:
in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi on Izmailska Street, rescuers assisted the police in opening the door to an apartment where the body of a deceased woman, born in 1938, was found;
in the Primorsky district of Odesa on Shevchenko Avenue, rescuers helped paramedics transport an ill woman to the ambulance.
