Flood Mitigation Efforts in Odesa During Rainfall
Since the onset of prolonged rainfall in Odesa, special machinery from the Municipal Enterprise «City Roads» has been dispatched to address potential flooding on the city's streets.
Currently, the roads in the city are passable. Partially flooded are 5th st. V. Fontana and Yarmarova Street. A total of 344 specialists from the enterprise and 46 units of special machinery are working on the streets.
In cases of extended rain, like today, specialized water pumping vehicles, including a high-pressure hydrodynamic unit based on a MAN truck, are routinely stationed on streets such as Balkivska, Prymorska, Yevhen Chykalenka, Heavenly Hundred, French Boulevard, and Customs Square, where flooding is usually possible during heavy downpours.
Additionally, employees from the Municipal Enterprise «City Roads» are on the streets using excavators with special attachments or manually clearing storm drains and catch basins from debris, branches, and leaves carried there by rainwater from the city's streets.
