Extra Trains Launched by Ukrzaliznytsia for the Holidays
During the Christmas and New Year holidays, «Ukrzaliznytsia» is launching additional trains. For Odesa, several enhanced routes have been introduced:
- №248/247 Kyiv – Odesa
- №265/266 Kyiv – Odesa
- №168/167 Odesa – Lviv
This makes it easier for residents of Odesa to plan trips to the capital or western Ukraine without long waits for tickets.
A total of 16 additional trains have been scheduled, including popular routes to Lviv, Uzhhorod, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rakhiv, Truskavets, and Kovel. Special attention is given to the Carpathians, which are traditionally visited by families with children and military personnel for relaxation.
Convenient transfers in Lviv are also noteworthy. For instance, train №291 Kyiv – Lviv has a quick connection (only 35 minutes) with the Lviv – Chop service, which passes through Slavske, Volovets, Svalyava, and Mukachevo. Train №289 Kyiv – Lviv allows for a leisurely transfer to a modern diesel train Lviv – Vorokhta via Yaremche and Bukovel.
Moreover, high-speed routes Kyiv – Lutsk and Kyiv – Kharkiv have been added, along with additional carriages from Dnipro to Lviv.
If tickets are sold out, the UZ app features an auto-purchase function that automatically «catches» available seats, often saving the day at the last moment.
In January, some of these routes will also be covered by the «3000 km across Ukraine» program, as reported by «Ukrzaliznytsia».
