Winter Readiness for City Roads in Odesa

To ensure road safety and effective response to winter weather, the municipal enterprise 'City Roads' in Odesa is implementing a number of preparatory measures.

Traditionally, from late November to early December, municipal services complete street cleaning and upgrade their equipment. They remove tanks from street washing machines and replace them with salt-sand spreaders.

Winter attachments are being installed, and most vehicles are fitted with snow plows. Additionally, all equipment undergoes inspection and preventive maintenance. Once preparation is complete, the special equipment will be tested on the enterprise's premises.

The 'City Roads' utility has at its disposal snow removal machines, sand spreaders, graders, excavators, loaders, and other specialized equipment. In total, during the fall-winter season of 2025-2026, 104 units of equipment and 560 workers will be engaged in snow removal and ice management.

As of December 4th, the equipment has been re-equipped and is ready for winter conditions.

The enterprise is also preparing a sand-salt mixture for anti-icing. In case of worsening weather conditions, there are 10,363 tons of reagents available for road treatment.

'City Roads' has developed 17 routes for snow removal vehicles, ensuring prompt clearing of roads from snow drifts and ice elimination. Additionally, there are 54 routes designated for spreading reagents on streets to reduce hazards during icy conditions.

From December 1, 2025, round-the-clock duty teams of 'City Roads' will be on standby for quick response to deteriorating weather. The duty rooms are prepared, and the personnel operating the equipment are provided with winter clothing.
