Electricity Consumption Surge Due to Cold Weather
The drop in temperatures and the delay in the heating season's start in Ukraine have resulted in a significant rise in electricity consumption – over 20% compared to the beginning of the month, stated the head of 'Ukrenergo', Vitaliy Zaichenko.
"We hope that in the next ten days, heating will be provided throughout Ukraine, which will lead to a decrease in electricity consumption. Many consumers are currently relying on electricity for heating – through air conditioners and heaters," he mentioned during a telethon.
According to him, over the past seven years, residential consumers have become the largest electricity users in Ukraine, so altering their behavior can significantly help stabilize the situation – particularly by refraining from using high-power appliances during peak load times.
