Accessibility Conference in Odessa: New Opportunities
Today, December 5, 2024, a conference titled «Odessa Accessible for All» was held in Odessa.
The primary goal of the event was to unite the efforts of local authorities and businesses to enhance accessibility in the tourism sector.
This urgent issue was identified by the National Tourism Organization of Ukraine as a top priority for 2024.
Despite the ongoing challenges, Odessa continues to welcome both domestic and international tourists, making it essential to focus on infrastructure accessibility.
The conference brought together individuals with disabilities, government representatives, and business leaders to discuss the accessibility of cultural and tourist sites. The topic of medical tourism was also explored.
«We are creating conditions where every resident and guest of the city can move freely and access necessary services. Hotels, restaurants, museums, theaters, and transportation must be adapted for individuals with disabilities,» stated the mayor of Odessa, Hennadiy Trukhanov.
Furthermore, participants discussed the current state, future plans, grant programs, and the role of businesses in developing a barrier-free environment in Odessa.
