Closure of the Inclusive Beach Season in Odesa
On September 27, in Odesa, at the inclusive beach at the 11th station of the Great Fountain, an official event was held for the closure of the rehabilitation season.
Since its reopening on July 1 after extensive renovations, the beach has welcomed over 25,000 individuals with disabilities and their companions. Specifically, 12 trips for 300 mobility-impaired residents of Mykolaiv were organized. As noted by Mykolaiv City Council member Yuriy Stepanets, Odesa has been assisting Mykolaiv with drinking water since the early days of the full-scale invasion, and today it offers people with disabilities the freedom to enjoy the sea and wellness.
Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov emphasized that the city has ambitious plans for the development of inclusive recreation areas. He promised veterans of rowing to create a specialized base for sea rowing activities.
“Currently, we are implementing three barrier-free routes in Odesa: the ‘North-South’ route in partnership with the Ministry of Development, a tourist route through the city center, and a wellness route that combines sea, sun, adaptive sports, and community leisure,” stated Hennadii Trukhanov.
Throughout the day, many heartfelt words of gratitude were expressed to those who made the creation and maintenance of this special area possible. Deputy Mayor and veteran of the Armed Forces Serhii Kotsyuba admitted that he would miss the Saturday meetings at the beach with his comrades, and he is eagerly anticipating the next season.
In the coming days, conservation efforts will be conducted to preserve the equipment and prepare for the new rehabilitation season.
