Tragic Road Incident: Fatal Accident in Odesa
On the evening of February 11, a tragic car accident occurred in Odesa on Ivan Funtovyi Street. A 29-year-old driver of a «Toyota» lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an electric pole. As a result, a 31-year-old passenger died, and the driver was hospitalized with serious injuries.
According to Dmytro Slyuta, the head of the transport crime investigation department of the Odesa region police, preliminary findings indicate that the driver was unable to maintain control. Unfortunately, the passenger sustained fatal injuries. The driver was tested for sobriety and was found to be sober.
The case has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under part 2 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, concerning violations of road safety rules leading to death. A series of forensic examinations are being conducted to determine all circumstances of the incident. Investigative actions are ongoing.
