Investigation into Fish Mortality in Odesa and Mykolaiv Regions
Environmental specialists are analyzing the underlying causes.
A significant die-off of aquatic life has been reported in the lagoons of Odesa and Mykolaiv.
This was reported by the State Environmental Inspection of the Southwestern Region.
The focus is on the Khadzhybeiskyi and Tylihulskyi lagoons. Initial findings suggest that the causes of fish mortality may include high water temperatures, decreased oxygen levels, algae decay, and rising hydrogen sulfide from the bottom.
Experts are collecting water samples to be sent for further laboratory analysis.
The inspection has stated that the situation is under control, and they will provide updates as events unfold.
