New sports ground in Odesa: a step towards inclusion
A new inclusive sports complex has been unveiled in Odessa, located along the Black Sea coast.
This facility, situated at the «Dolphin» beach, is a continuation of the initiative to enhance the sports infrastructure of the Health Trail.
From the moment of its opening, various sporting events took place at the site. The upper area hosted warm-up sessions before boxing matches between local clubs, karate masterclasses, and strength training workouts. The middle area became a hub for sambo, table tennis, and wushu. The lower area allowed veterans and individuals with disabilities to try out inclusive exercise machines, as well as participate in an adaptive Muay Thai masterclass led by world champion Vasily Sorokin.
The opening ceremony was attended by Odessa's Mayor Gennady Trukhanov, representatives of local authorities, veteran organizations, sports federations, patrons, and youth.
In his welcoming speech, the mayor emphasized the importance of accessible sports infrastructure, inspiring the community towards a healthy lifestyle and uniting the city's residents even in challenging times. He noted that the opening of this complex is the result of fruitful collaboration between the government, business, and the active community of Odessa.
«This space has been created by those who do not seek fame but are confidently transforming the city. It is designed to meet all accessibility standards and is available to everyone: residents, visitors, people with disabilities, families with children, and of course, veterans who need physical activity, rehabilitation, and support,» said Gennady Trukhanov.
The inclusive sports complex is equipped with 12 modern exercise machines, a boxing ring, a crossfit zone, a gymnastics complex, yoga machines, table tennis tables, and everything necessary for comprehensive and comfortable sports activities.
