Ukraine to Join Free Roaming Zone by 2026
The European Commission has proposed to include Ukraine in the "Roam like at Home" mobile space starting January 1, 2026. This will allow Ukrainians to use mobile services in EU countries without extra charges, similar to EU citizens in Ukraine.
The agreement will cover calls, SMS, and mobile data at domestic rates, ensuring access to emergency services and consistent service quality. The current voluntary agreement between Ukrainian and European operators will be extended until the end of 2025.
The decision needs approval from the EU Council. The Commission noted that Ukraine has fully aligned its legislation with EU roaming rules, which was a necessary condition for integration.
This marks the first area where Ukraine will gain internal market status within the EU according to the Association Agreement.
