Gas Explosion in Odesa: Homeowner in Critical Condition

A significant gas explosion occurred in a private residence in the Kadyjibey district of Odesa due to a gas cylinder's breach. The homeowner was rescued from the rubble in critical condition.

According to the State Emergency Service, the incident happened last night on Oleksii Kosiatsenko Street. The explosion was triggered by a gas cylinder's loss of integrity in the residential building.

As a result of the explosion, the ceiling and walls of the house partially collapsed, and the shockwave caused severe damage, trapping the homeowner beneath debris.

"The homeowner, born in 1979, sustained severe burns covering 70% of his body and was rescued by firefighters and handed over to medical personnel," the State Emergency Service reported.

The 45-year-old man suffered critical injuries, with burns affecting 70% of his skin, placing him in an extremely serious condition. Rescuers quickly extracted the victim from the debris and transferred him to an ambulance crew.

To manage the aftermath of the explosion, the State Emergency Service deployed two units of specialized equipment and twelve firefighters. Rescuers are working on-site to clear the rubble and ensure the safety of the surrounding area. The victim's condition remains critical due to the extent of his burns, and medics are fighting for his life in the hospital.
