Enhancing Green Spaces in Odesa: New Techniques and Outcomes
Since the beginning of 2025, the Odesa utility company «Miskzelentrest» has carried out the removal and cleaning of 1522 hazardous and dry trees and branches, including those fallen due to severe weather conditions.
The inventory of trees is conducted by the Department of Urban Economy in collaboration with the Department of Ecology and Recreational Zone Development. Based on their evaluations, «Miskzelentrest» undertakes the removal of trees and branches.
Overall, the work of removing hazardous trees is executed based on citizen requests, as a result of inclement weather, or within the framework of local landscaping programs.
Additionally, the green space specialists are engaged in stump removal. Since the start of the year, 828 stumps have been eradicated, and new trees are already being planted in their places.

Stump removal is a very challenging task. Until this year, municipal workers lacked specialized equipment to remove stumps, which significantly complicated and prolonged the process. Currently, the work is carried out using new equipment — the stump grinder Rotor Speedy 80/100 and the KATA KF1404 tractor with 140 horsepower, aimed at timely and quality stump removal.
With this new machinery, green space workers dramatically reduce the time required for physically demanding tasks through mechanization: whereas previously, manual stump removal was scheduled for 12 hours, the entire stump removal process for a 70 cm diameter stump now takes only 40 minutes.
