Promoting Adaptive Sports in Odessa: New Initiatives
Odessa is making strides in promoting adaptive sports.
The mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, along with the Barrier-Free Council, visited the sports club «Arena» to evaluate the facilities available for sports activities.
The club already offers rehabilitation services for veterans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and is actively enhancing these programs in collaboration with the local government.
During the visit, they particularly focused on the accessibility of the premises for individuals with disabilities.
«The facility provides excellent training conditions; however, we noticed a significant issue — the lack of accessible restrooms for wheelchair users. Additionally, there are a few other aspects that require improvement. It is encouraging that the club management is open to dialogue — together we are seeking technical solutions to make this space truly barrier-free», — stated Gennady Trukhanov.
