Youth Sports Competitions in Odesa
Young athletes from Odesa are showcasing their skills at the «Ukrainian School Leagues» competitions.
The opening ceremony of the III stage of the «Ukrainian School Leagues» took place at Lyceum No. 84.
This year, over 260 school teams will compete in sports such as basketball, volleyball, futsal, sports orienteering, rugby, handball, cheerleading, athletics, and chess.
Last year, there were only 119 teams, indicating a growing interest among Odesa's students.
«Sports not only strengthen the body but also the spirit. Engaging students in sports lays the foundation for their future», - emphasized the importance of this initiative by Odesa's Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.
The mayor also reminded that Odesa is one of the first cities to implement the «Path to Champions» project, aimed at training Olympic champions from school.
The event was held as part of the unified physical education lesson «Odesa's Education on a Sports Wave», organized by the Department of Education and Science of the Odesa City Council.
