New Initiative for IT Education in Ukraine
A new initiative for training specialists in the field of information technology called «New Path in IT» has been launched in Ukraine.
According to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 24.06.2022 №737, the order for implementing an experiment for training individuals in the field of information technologies «New Path in IT» has been approved.
Grant conditions – an individual who has completed training is obliged to find employment within 30 calendar days under the following conditions:
- signing an employment or gig contract;
- entering into a civil law contract for work performance or service provision;
- registering as a sole proprietor or engaging in independent professional activity.
Who is the program «New Path in IT» aimed at?
The program is designed for citizens of Ukraine (p.p.5, 9 of the Order) who:
- are in downtime or with whom the employment contract has been suspended;
- have been granted unpaid leave;
- are internally displaced persons of working age;
- are registered unemployed who are entitled to social services.
Who cannot participate in the program «New Path in IT»?
The Order does not apply to individuals (p.5 of the Order) who:
- do not have professional or higher education;
- have less than 18 months of work experience;
- have specialized in IT or have work experience in the IT industry.
How to obtain a grant for IT training?
The training certificate is generated electronically on the "Diia Portal" based on the review of documents by the Employment Center and is issued once (p.11 of the Order). To obtain the certificate, one must submit:
- an application;
- a resume in the format approved by the State Employment Center;
- confirmation of the educational institution's readiness to train the individual;
- a copy of the employment record book or information on insurance experience;
- a copy of the educational document (if available);
- a copy of the order confirming the individual’s downtime or unpaid leave (if available).
The certificate is valid for 10 working days from the date of issuance, during which the individual must sign a contract with an educational institution.
The list of educational institutions and programs is determined by the Ministry of Digital Transformation, and this information will be published on the websites of employment centers.
The main goal of the experiment is to ensure citizens' right to work and facilitate employment.
