Young Basketball Stars Shine in Odessa
On September 12-13, 2025, Odessa hosted the 30th basketball tournament dedicated to the memory of esteemed Ukrainian coach Joseph Yakovych Keselman, held at the Specialized Children and Youth Sports School of Olympic Reserve named after Litvak B.D. for girls born in 2012 and younger.
Five teams from southern Ukraine participated in the competition. This year, teams included the «Crazy Jellyfish», «Furious Shrimps», and «Swallows» from the Boris Litvak Sports School, as well as representatives from SDYUSSHOR № 4 in Mykolaiv and the local Children's Basketball Club «YUG Basket».
The champions of the tournament were the «Jellyfish» team from the Boris Litvak Sports School (coach – Yulia Gladchenko).
The tournament continued on September 14 in a 3x3 format. At the Starobazarny Square, the girls participated in the open 21st Cup of the Odessa Regional Basketball Federation, dedicated to the Day of Physical Culture and Sports, in the U-15 category.
Teams competing in the 5x5 format were joined by rivals from Izmail, Tatarbunary, and Chornomorsk - totaling 9 teams.
The victory in this tournament was celebrated by the girls from the Hot Wheels Italy team, who also represented the tournament hosts – the Boris Litvak Sports School.
The tournament was organized by the Charitable Fund for the Support and Development of Children's and Women's Basketball named after I.Ya. Keselman, with support from the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Odessa City Council, the Odessa Regional Basketball Federation, the Odessa City Basketball Federation, the Boris Litvak Sports School, and the pharmaceutical company «InterChem».
