Junior World Swimming Championship: Ukrainian Athletes Shine
From August 19 to 24, 2025, the 10th Junior World Swimming Championship took place in Otopeni, Romania.
Over 600 athletes from more than 80 countries participated in the event.
Nikita Sheremet, a talented swimmer from the Odessa Specialized Children and Youth Sports School of Olympic Reserve «Dynamo», represented Ukraine.
In the semi-finals of the 50m freestyle, Nikita achieved victory, setting a new Ukrainian junior record with a time of 21.75 seconds, also matching the junior world record.
He went on to win the final, becoming the world champion in the 50m freestyle with a time of 21.99 seconds, outpacing competitors from the UK and Italy.
Nikita was coached by Alla Timofeeva and Oleksandra Kurbanova.
