Enhancing Sports Initiatives in Odesa Region
A representative from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine visited the Greco-Roman wrestling sports club «GREK» in Odesa, which is involved in a new project by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
At the end of February this year, the Odesa Regional State Administration signed an important memorandum with the Ministry to support sports clubs, facilitating the expansion of the region's sports infrastructure.
The purpose of this experimental project is to create effective mechanisms for transitioning to a club system for organizing sports activities, which will enhance the role of clubs as public organizations.
Participants in the meeting included:
- Anton Shalyhaiilo - Deputy Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration
- Tetiana Semenyk - Deputy Director of the Mass Sports Department
- Viktor Syniavskyi - Acting Head of the Physical Culture Department
- Oleksandr Hraban - Chairman of the «GREK» club
Currently, the club has four coaches working with over 160 athletes. Training sessions take place in Odesa, Chornomorsk, Podilsk, and Gradenytsia village.
During the visit, the attendees learned about the club's activities, interacted with coaches and athletes, and observed the training process.
This experiment is funded by the regional budget.
«We are actively advancing towards the development of sports in the Odesa region. This project opens new opportunities for youth, promotes physical improvement, and fosters a healthy nation. Investing in sports infrastructure and supporting coaches is an investment in the future of our region,» noted Anton Shalyhaiilo.
The Odesa region continues to support initiatives aimed at enhancing the sporting potential and strengthening the club system in Ukraine.
