Invictus Games 2025: A New Chapter for Veterans
Tomorrow at 11:00 PM, the first winter hybrid Invictus Games will kick off in Whistler and Vancouver, Canada, running until February 16.
Introducing another participant from Odesa region.
Illya Pylypenko, a sailor in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, veteran. He was injured in September 2022 due to a tank explosion from a mine near Bilohirka in the Kherson region.
«I am actively promoting the veteran movement in Odesa. I enjoy life. I swim in the sea. I have started to appreciate the little things. Sometimes I feel like a child. After training, I dive into the sea with such joy, akin to the happiness of being able to wash from a bottle after a week in a tank,» – shares Illya Pylypenko.
At the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler - 2025, our compatriot will compete in the following events: wheelchair basketball, 100 meters, 400 meters, 50 meters freestyle swimming, 50 meters breaststroke, and 100 meters freestyle swimming.

Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler - 2025 will feature 550 athletes from 25 countries, including: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Netherlands, Nigeria, New Zealand, Poland, South Korea, Romania, Ukraine, the UK, and the USA.
