Celebration of Japanese Culture in Odesa
Japanese Culture Days have commenced in Odesa, commemorating the 60-year partnership with Yokohama, Japan.
During these days, a variety of cultural and educational activities titled "Japan - the Land of the Rising Sun" will take place. Through discussions, art classes, workshops, exhibitions, and video screenings, participants will have the chance to explore Japanese culture and traditions.
The main events will start on April 29 at the Central City Library named after I.Ya. Franko (Book Passage, 1a).
Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the richness of Japanese culture and learn about the development of friendly relations between our cities and countries.
"Our relationship with Yokohama is a story of how, despite distance, language differences, and cultural variations, cities can be close at heart," said Odesa's mayor, Hennadii Trukhanov.
Additionally, from April 28 to May 2, 2025, an art exhibition titled "Mysterious Japan Through the Eyes of Ukrainian Artists" will be held in the hall of the Odesa City Hall (Birzhova Square, 1).
This event is organized with the support of the Faculty of Arts and Graphics of the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushynskyi and the Municipal Institution "City Art Gallery".
