Tribute Festival for Stus in Odesa

On January 6, Odesa participated in the nationwide performance festival «STUSuyemos» — a vibrant celebration of the poet who remained free even in chains.

The founder of the event, military officer and musician Igor Dvyhalo, organized meetings directly from a bunker, symbolizing that culture knows no obstacles.

This year, cities such as Odesa, Lviv, Dnipro, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, Kamianets, and others joined Kyiv in the festivities.

The celebration in Odesa took place at More Music Club, featuring an eclectic music and poetry performance that revealed Stus as an artist-rebel, relevant today.

The evening began with electronic music, under which an 11-year-old boy recited a poem by Stus, his voice echoing the spirit of a new generation.

The program included a musical stand-up from the independent Kyiv theater «Between Three Columns» and mini-sets from Odesa bands across various genres — from electronic to industrial metal.

Some of the music was composed directly from Stus's poetry, while others served as reflections inspired by his texts. Short facts from the life of Vasyl Stus were shared between sets — dates, events, and details often lost in official biographies.

The evening concluded with a communal carol «Good Evening to You, Master of the House».

On January 6, during Epiphany, the carol resonated in unison across different cities in Ukraine.
