Expanding Digital Education in Ukraine

In southern Ukraine, the Association of Innovative and Digital Education (AIDE), supported by UNICEF, has already launched 46 digital educational centers, with 19 established in the Odesa region through the efforts of the local administration.

The mission of these Digital Educational Centers is to provide equal access to quality education for students who have lost the ability to learn offline due to war or other circumstances.

These centers assist students in catching up on educational losses, provide psychosocial support, offer lessons for successful living, and conduct other engaging and beneficial activities for children using modern digital tools.

Today marks another significant event! Digital Educational Centers have been opened in the Mayaki community based at the local lyceum and in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi at Gymnasium No. 2.

Present at the opening were Deputy Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration Anton Shalyhaylo, Director of the Department of Education and Science Oleksandr Lonchak, as well as representatives and coordinators of educational projects from UNICEF and the Association of Innovative and Digital Education.

At DLS No. 25 (village Mayaki), guests learned about the center's technical and methodological provisions, discussed its further development, and visited a lesson with eleventh graders focused on bridging gaps in mathematics knowledge using the Ecosystem for Educational Loss Recovery through Artificial Intelligence.

At DLS No. 17, the center's coordinators introduced guests to all the services available for teachers and students regarding education and overall development.

During the opening, students showcased their work with quizzes – tests on school subjects and general information, as well as their gameplay in “Minecraft Education,” where they learn to navigate life situations and solve problems independently.

“We pay significant attention to the educational preparation of youth. Recently, we have greatly improved the opportunities for students and their access to in-person education by creating safe and comfortable conditions. Establishing such Digital Educational Centers for schoolchildren is part of this effort. This work is made possible thanks to our partners – UNICEF and the Association of Innovative and Digital Education, for which we are truly grateful,” noted Anton Shalyhaylo.
